T O P I C R E V I E WSolar_Leo_QueenI have noticed all my life, I have never been one to show any kind of team spirit--whether it be school, band, or any kind of team I've been involved in. I'm not antisocial, though. What could cause this in a person? sweet-scorpionHeh, you'd think an Aquarian person would show 'school spirit' since the traditional Aquarian type has a love of universality and the collective/group efforts but I'm pretty Aquarian and I loathed school spirit and all sorts of things like this. I think it's a combination of having Aqua AND Scorpio influences. I have Moon- and Mars-Uranus, and most of my planets in the 11th house, those of which are in Scorpio. I think the Scorpio planets in the 11th house have made me detest the superficiality of events like pep rallies--this config. has allowed me to question the point and significance behind such an event, and I always came to the conclusion that it was shallow, immature BS that would not matter an ounce in later life. I also have Mercury in Scorpio in the 11th trine Saturn with a 2 dg. orb. Makes me wonder if Saturn also plays a role since the Saturnine person may scoff and even feel annoyed at seeing 'juvenile' events like pep rallies with spirit sticks take place since, again, what is the point? Will a school spirit event really have any meaning in one's life? No, it's a superficial event that's very 'high school' in nature and Saturn hates immaturity.GrachaThat's a good question! I've wondered myself because I don't like participating in group activities. I'd rather just go at it alone because I know I'll get the job done and plus I won't have to depend on others to help. I'm thinking maybe saturn placements. I have saturn in my 4th house and venus in taurus/mars Aries (conjunct MC). I don't care for team events didn't even care for pep rally's. Maybe Scorpio could be thrown in there too. I'm still not too sure though. PixieJaneMy 7H is Aquarius which might help explain why I'm more concerned with individuals rather than teams. I typically live up to "team obligations" but I'll also ask myself if it's worth it, and ask more than once, and I just don't get the cheering for one's team, arbitrary patriotism, and the like. I do have a Libra stellium but it's on the Scorpio cusp with a Scorpio Jupiter...and neither my Libra nor Scorpio energy cared for school as it was unfair, fake, cowardly when it came to truth or at least the telling of it (even most of the teachers), and just not to be trusted. My 5H Sag stellium (which surely tied into my Leo ASC) also made it difficult though I didn't consciously get into ethical philosophy until I was 17 (and by then I was no longer in school). My principal once told me I "lacked school spirit" as if it was a character flaw (whereas I guess he felt proud lying on the news for the school and its teams, allowing horrid abuse to go on, etc).My Scorpio had to understand many things, though...for example, I came to realize (as an adult many years after school) that the reason the jocks and cheerleaders at my school (and so many others to this day) got away with so much is because the community identified with them and furthermore had a strong tendency to excuse their actions (just as they would their own) and thus hold them to lower standards rather than higher because any shame on the teams and such was a shame on the entire community. This was so alien to how my mind works so it was very hard for me to grasp but so much made sense when I realized it (including the insane riots and violence that sometimes precede and follow major games). It's not just school sports and such, but also national, church, etc, any group a person identifies too strongly with. Not usually individuals (unless they're famous or otherwise an obvious representation of their group/team) mind you, but a group or team that represents them (community, school, branch of service, partisan group, denomination, etc) to society at large. Now that you mentioned church, I was actually in a youth group at my old church. I had pleasant relationships with most of the people in there (Venus in the 3rd house), but I was never one to promote my involvement in it. Would you say this is because the 3rd house is more focused on the native's self because it lies below the horizon? See, because the typical description for natives who have Venus in the 3rd says that these people will have good contacts with neighbors and the local community. Church is pretty local to me.I'm so cappyI don't think I ever got off to being part of a team and the older I get the more indiviualistic I become. I have a packed 5th house with the Sun, Sun conjunct Uranus, Uranus in the 4th. They laugh at my Jupiter in the 11th.------------------I'm sooo happy! I mean, cappy.wheresthemoonThe responses here made me laugh! I also have Capricorn 7H and Venus in 11H and I have always hated school spirit/team spirit. I find it embarrassing.I also have sun square Uranus and Venus trine Uranus.Honestly I think you're going to hear a lot of people here as being that way though. People who participate in astrology tend to be individualistic and somewhat introspective and self-aware. Not exactly the type to get swept up in the hype of a pep-rally.Ami Anne12th House planets, particularly saturn but others, as well.------------------ Want to Read Simple, Sexy, Fun Articles on Astrology? My sister has that an she's into all that school spirit kind of stuff. magicspellsI have sun mercury and Jupiter in the 11th house and an aquarius moonand I hate team stuff. I never was a part of school committees and never liked doing things in groups. Probably due to my scorpio rising/1st house Pluto and moon conjunct SaturnPixieJaneI should mention a girl born the same day and in the same hospital as me was very much into school spirit...but she probably had a different ASC and thus different houses for her planets.aquaguy91Ha. I have team/school spirit. I can still remember all the words to the school's fight song.aquaguy91.wheresthemoon quote:Originally posted by Solar_Leo_Queen: That's odd you have Venus in the 11th and hate pep rallies. When I am at pep rallies I feel like everyone around me is brainwashed and they are all trying to brainwash me too lol! I also just feel really separate. Like I don't belong there or something. Idk it's weird. hodadAqua wants to go their own way---SeleneI am a weird mix of both. I *need* to know that i have people behind me or next to me, as to achieve a common cause. And they are. We work together, we organize events as a team, we hang out as a group of friends, etc. I love it. I need that spirit. But i also need my time alone very much so, as in "retreat". Above all i always remember that i am an individual with my own views and opinions, and my own path. I have Moon conjunct Jupiter in my 11th, along with the SN, plus NN is in Aqua. So working in a team and being social is a big part of who i am. I rely on it a lot. Yet NN and Saturn are in my 5th, which is Capricorn-Aquarius. I need to learn to be myself - apart from the *team*. I think i am great at learning it.
What could cause this in a person?
